Potion Explosion

THE PREMISE:
Players take turns picking colorful marbles from the dispenser to complete magic potions. If they cause two marbles of the same color to touch, they take those too. Completed potions are worth points, and can be consumed to activate magic powers. The player with the most points at the end of the game wins.

THE GOOD:
The marble mechanic is easy to understand (and instantly familiar to fans of Bejeweled, Candy Crush, etc.), and adds a tactile element that kids and adults alike are sure to love. The pieces are sturdy, especially considering they’re made of cardboard, and the art is colorful and charming.

THE BAD:
The game is for 2-4 people, but really only comes alive with 3 or more players.

FINAL REVIEW:
A colorful combo of App game-style play and strategy that’s family-friendly without being dull. If you can wrangle enough players, this is a great choice for game night! – MM
